BEYOND AFF
Once you complete your training jumps (either AFF or TAF) and meet the other requirements to get an "A" licence, you can start to look at all the various disciplines of skydiving. Initially you are still under the supervision of your instructors but now you have some freedom to go up for a "fun jump” and just freefall without having to worry about whether you meet the standard to achieve the jump stages.
Once you have completed your “A” licence training, the next step is to commence your “B” licence training (also known as your “B-Rels”). B-Rels teach you all the skills you will need to know to fly “relative” to other skydivers. The training jumps start with basic freefall manoeuvres and progress to jumps involving up to three other skydivers. While progressing through your B-Rels you can also organise fun jumps with other skydivers. On completion of your B-Rels and the demonstration of your canopy handling skills, you can apply for your “B” licence. Once you have your “B” licence, you can try most areas of skydiving such as 4 (or more) way formation skydiving, freeflying, camera flying, tracking, canopy control and parachute formations.
You can be sure that as you progress though the licence stages (A, B, C, D, E, and F) you will find many interests you never thought of when you decided to do that first jump.
We are lucky enough to have an association known as the South Australian Sport Parachute Club (SASPC) operating in the state to promote sports parachuting. SASPC runs regular events catering for all levels of skydiver. To visit their website click here
